4 Mile Coastal Walk…

August 30, 2010

Just when everyone in the UK thought the summer was over, the sun returned with a huge smiley face this bank holiday Monday! The hubby and I decided we were going to get as much vitamin D as we could stand and headed to the coast for a trek around the coastal paths.

Before leaving i had a cup of tea and an English Muffin with homemade strawberry jam (made by hubbys gran).

i then decided to make a healthy pack lunch up to save money and calories whilst we were out!

On the menu was Quorn Peppered Beef slice, baby spinach and mayo on a ciabatta…

We also took carrots, cucumber, apple, kiwi and for dessert…

…hubbys moms homemade blackberry cheesecake to share (we really are spoilt!)

The walk was gorgeous and HOT! We parked up at Branscombe Village Hall and walked the 3/4 mile to the coast – it was stunning! We then made the 2 mile coastal walk to Beer, had lunch and then walked back.

This is the hill we climbed, the photo does not give the incline justice – we certainly felt the burn in our legs!!

Have you ever took one of those photos where you lean forward on a steep hill and take the photo as if the earth is flat? No – well it looks funny after, check out the picks – wierd huh?

Check out the view from the top – now can you see how high it was to climb?!!!

The view going into Beer – is this really the UK? And am i really that lucky to live 15 mins from this beautiful coast? Er Yes and Yes!

Eating lunch in Beer – i made Ollie put some sun cream on – why did i not listen to my own advice? (See last photo on post!!! Ouch)

Once back at Branscombe beach, we had a little paddle to cool off…

Trust me to get soaked by a wave just as i am about to have my photo taken!

Now for the ouch photo! Remember kids – wear sunscreen otherwise you end up with a head like a beetroot!

It has been a perfect day – ending with veggie lasagna and salad (which i forgot to photo – sorry). The walk and the heat have gotten the best of me so i am off to bed – night everyone – back to work tomorrow :o( boo hoo!

It looks beautiful! The heat has completely left the sun here now, it’s positively cold! I was out for a walk tonight and wore a t-shirt, fleece and anorak!
